I understand you have been working on a version of SoftRaid for Apple Silicon since WWDC 2020, which is great!

What solutions will exist using Betas or otherwise to run SoftRaid in Big Sur on Apple Silicon Macs on day 1?

I need to replace a 2012 Mac Mini server that runs SoftRaid and four OWC Thunderbay enclosures.  What would be the option to run SoftRAID on an M1 Mac Mini on day one?

Maybe. We intend for 6.0 beta 43 to support Apple silicon. Lets hope!

I asked this question in another thread, but this one seems more appropriate.

Any idea when a beta will be available.

Thanks,

Are current volumes accessible on M1 Macs? I'm switching to one soon. I'm fine with the application not being ready, but can the new Macs read/write to a Softraid volume?

Yes, a SoftRAID volume will mount. We anticipate SoftRAID 6.0 b43 will support Apple Silicon.

@softraid-support I am running a Mac Mini with M1 and softraid volumes are not currently mounting or seen.  I understand the intel soft raid will not load but I thought at least I could see my volumes with M1 due to built in big sur drivers.

Patience. We should have the B43 soon. Our M1 was due Monday (We only have a prototype still), but we have not received it yet. We hope to release B43 in the next day or so.

Hang in there. We ran into some issues on the release hardware, which we just received Tuesday. We are trying to get the M1 driver out ASAP, but had some unexpected challenges that we did not see on the prototype hardware. Should be any day, but it is also 'day by day'.

Just checking in to see if there was any progress on this and was wondering where the best place to get notified about B43 when she launches? Thank you.

@softraid-support

Sorry to bother but any update on your B43?  Would like to be able to use my M1 Mac mini to access OWC Raid.  Thanks!

We are going to make a web site announcement. Did you sign up for "important announcements" in the SoftRAID app?

We are sending the announcement to all users who signed up.

No announcement yet. Sign up for important notices. We will also make an announcement here, and on the SoftRAID web site.

@softraid-support I think I did.  But is there a place to sign up in the app after install?

I will have to check. We have a important notices page. I am getting a signup link added to that page.
