Just upgrade to Big Sur on my Intel iMac. Not aware SoftRaid 5.8.4 still not yet support Big Sur ("An internal part of SoftRaid application has stopped functioning properly" popped up when invoking softraid).
I notice that my SoftRaid volume are turned to light grey in colour with an ! mark on top. Can I still read write files to them?
Any fix on this issue?
Thanks.
Big Sur installs a limited version of the 6.0 driver.
5.8.4 is not compatible. We have a beta if you want to use it, we will be doing public beta's until 6.0 is ready.
here is the link to the beta: SoftRAID 6
I'm having the same problem. The link you provided is bad. It goes to a "nothing found" page. It does not show where I can download the 6.0 beta. Is there an ETA for the final version of 6.0? If not then I'm in rough shape until then.
Remove the < >'s then and it will work. This is a wordpress bug, it adds a space where not wanted!
@ softraid-support Hi! Same problem than this persons. I finally have install the beta version. Its running right, but i have 2 oders questions:
- My raid icon has still the "red alert" icon. Its working well; i can open, read and copy. But with this red alert icon.
- And i have and advertice of "beta version 60 days" it is showing on the app. i think that will be other version ready soon, but, what if not?
If you have the ! icons, it means the OSX bundled version of the driver is loading. Run SoftRAID and make sure you are not asked to update the driver. If your OS updated to 11.0.1, it may have replaced the driver again. (This was supposed to be fixed in Big Sur, it would be a disappointment if this behavior is still present)
Otherwise, make sure Secure Boot is disabled. (If your computer has a T2 chip) A quick test is restart with no SoftRAID disks connected. Then plug them in a minute later and if the regular icons appear, it means Secure Boot is active.
@softraid-support Thank you. The link worked when I followed your instructions. The beta version says it's good for 60 days and seems to be working perfectly. However, it says I only have 37 days left on the beta when I would assume I should have 60.
