I noticed that the blue "dot" that normally used to appear in the status menu in the upper right of the Mac is no longer there in SoftRAID version 5.8.1. This was a quick visual indicator that SoftRAID was running and that there were no drive issues. Was the dot removed intentionally? If so, why?

More likely, it means you do not have the correct SoftRAID driver running.

Disable Secure Boot in Catalina and then run 5.8.1. that ought to enablt he 5.8.1 driver to load and re-enable the Manu bar SoftRAID icon.

I had previously installed the latest version with Secure Boot disabled. It showed that I was running the correct version of the driver. I did notice that SoftRAID was not starting at login like before so I added it to the Login Items under Security and Privacy. After doing that and restarting the Mac running Catalina, it then asked to update the driver again for some reason. Since then, I now see the blue dot (SoftRAID Monitor) in Catalina.

Note that I also updated to version 5.8.1 on another Mac still running Mojave. The SoftRAID Monitor blue dot also disappeared there even though the Mac is running 5.8.1 and the option to display the SoftRAID Monitor in the status menu is checked (turned on). I just uninstalled and reinstalled version 5.8.1 in Mojave, enabled it to start at login, restarted and the SoftRAID Monitor blue dot is still missing in Mojave...

If you "copied" the app to your Mojave machine, it may have been quarantined.

Try downloading a fresh copy and reinstalling the driver. See if that works. The "Blue dot" is the SoftRAID Monitor and if that is not running you are not going to get notifications, etc.

I did not copy the app from Catalina to Mojave. On Mojave, I downloaded a fresh copy of SoftRAID XT directly from softraid.com.

Run these two commands in terminal.app:

xattr /Applications/SoftRAID XT 5.8.1/SoftRAID XT 5.8.1.app

sudo xattr /Library/Extensions/SoftRAID.kext

If no output, that's good, if any quarantine output, then that is the issue.

I just tried uninstalling SoftRAID XT through the Utilities > Uninstall SoftRAID XT menu option (I had previously just put the SoftRAID app in the trash which apparently didn't uninstall the app completely). I then restarted and reinstalled version 5.8.1. Since doing so, the SoftRAID Monitor is now working. I restarted a few more times to be sure and it is still working. Thanks for your assistance.

Great! I do think the problem was quarantine, so this would solve that.
