Anyone that has access to developer builds, please test this and let us know.

We have one user reporting success and in an internal machine here, this 10.15.3 beta 2 build seems to fix it also.

We are still researching, but so far, it looks like this issue may be finally resolved.

I installed the beta and am still having the problem. When I allow the computer to go to sleep, something errors and it reboots. If I don't allow the system to sleep I don't have a problem.

I sent the logs into Apple's beta program and am going to elevate it to their tech support next week.
I also sent info to your support desk. Not a critical issue but frustrating with a $15k computer.

I promised to write here when I finished my HDD'd Thunderbay 4 TB3 certificate ...

I just finished the certification of my HDD's

Result: 0 error in all HDD's
without problems, failures, kernel panics ... all ok and run's fine!

(Amazing!, it only took three and a half days, 4 x 10 Tb in Thunderbay 4 TB3 with MacBookPro 16 - Catalina. I am very happy with the effectiveness of SofRAID XT 5.8. 1)
I will choose HFS + with enable journey for my RAID5 volumes ...
(Thank you for your clarifications in the other tread)

Important: before to run the certificate HDD's, I have disabled hard drives in standby power saving system preferences

Now, I will initialize HDD's and create the RAID 5 volumes that I need ... easy!

Thank you very much for guiding me in to starting my ThunderBay 4, really, THANK YOU!, it's essential for me to start on the right way...

Best wishes!

Generate this file immediately after your system restarts after a crash.

Send an email to support at softraid when you have all three. The sysdiagnose file can be sent using wetransfer.com, just post it and send us a link to the files.

Interesting that some drives are causing this and some are not. There are very few reports of this considering the entire base of SoftRAID/Catalina users. We hope to get some answers within a couple weeks.

Hi, I have been redirected here by OWC support. I reported a similar issue with Catalina and I am posting the test I have done. Note that I just bought the thunder bay raid 4 and the Mac mini.

/////Issue
I have Kernel panic when using the thunder bay 4 raid when using specific disks drives.

I have Kernel panic in 2 of the following circumstances and seems related to the same origin;
1 When the Mac come back from sleep mode
2 When disks were reactivated after being put in sleep mode.

The Kernel panic does not occur when using following disks drives
HGST 4TB

The kernel panic does occur when using the following disk drives
WD 6tb
HGST 6TB
HGST 8TB

Note: I have made multiple tests to narrow the issue and I can reproduce the Panic every time when meeting theses conditions.

///////System part substitution test;

I had transfert my disk drives that causes kernel panic in icy dock raid I owned.
	The kernel panic does not occur when my disk drives (WD 6tb; HGST 6TB; HGST 8TB) are in icy dock. I have done this to eliminate the disk drives of the equation.

I had uninstall the SoftRaid software
	Nothing changed. The kernel panic does occurs in condition I described in the issue section.

I replaced the computer by a MacBook air with same result; Kernel panic when coming back from sleep mode. Same issue
MacBookAir8,1
macOS 10.15.2 (19C57)

I had replace the thunderbolt 3 cable with 2 others cable (OWC hub thunder3 cable and Sonnet thunderbolt3 cable)
With same result; kernel panic from sleep mode.

I did not downgrade Mac OS, it is becoming a hassle to downgrade compared to OSX

///////System description
The Mac OS is a new installation and the I have created new account to avoid any conflict from a bad upgrade from old Mac OS and old Account.

SoftRAID Lite XT 5.8.1 is installed.
The disks are in non-raid.

The Mac mini is also brand new.
macOS 10.15.2 (19C57)
Macmini8,1
Startup Security Utility set to «No Security»

/////////Additional system tested
MacBookAir8,1
macOS 10.15.2 (19C57)
Same result.

//////Conclusion,
In all kernel panic logs the report relate to
«IOAHCIBlockStorageDriver::CommandTimeout! »
affecting the OWC ThunderBay 4 RAID.
This seem to be a driver issue in the Mac OS Kernel.

//////Workaround
Workaround is to select the option «Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off»
And deselect the option «Put hard disks to sleep when possible».
