It was intended to be a 4 from the start, but one disk was bad and had to be sent back for warranty replacement which took a long time. I needed to build it as a 3 disk RAID to make sure the software was working (I was having problems getting it to work).

To change the size, I followed the instructions here: https://softraid.com/faq/can-i-add-a-disk-to-my-raid-4-5-softraid-array/ and disabled safeguard and attempted to delete the volume, following these instructions: https://softraid.com/faq/how-do-i-change-my-raid-volume-to-a-different-raid-level/

When I do that, I get an error that says “An internal part of the SoftRAID application has stopped functioning properly. Please quit SoftRAID and relaunch it.” I have quit and relaunched SoftRAID four times, and get the same error. The volume continues to function properly.
