I am using SoftRaid XT and have a RAID4 volume in the ThunderBay 6. All 6 hard drives are 10TB each and I have the last disk in the array selected as the parity. Since the RAID4 uses a dedicated drive as parity, would I be able to remove that parity drive and essentially have a "degraded" RAID4 which is acting like a RAID0.

The main issue that I have is that I am about to run out of space and that extra 10TB will become very handy over the next several days. I just purchased and received the ThunderBay 8 and have 16TB Drives on the way, but that will take a few days to get here.

I understand that I will be "at risk" while there is no parity.

Would there be a way to "officially" convert the RAID4 to a RAID0 and add the "old" parity disk in to expand the disk space of the RAID array?
