But you can do this in place. Yes you add one by one until all are replaced. then "resize volume" to expand the volume to maximum and double your volume.

(based on your question, I assume you know the process of remove/add disk)

Not until you replace all disks with larger ones can you resize the volume.

 

There are some pseudo RAID configurations that allow what you are desiring, mostly hardware RAID, like Drobo. We do not support this and probably never will. Sorry.

And wont allow a resize of the 12TB volume. What am I missing?
