restart your machine with no drives attached.
Give the disks "labels", Primary and Secondary, so it is easier to identify.

Slightly pull all the drives in enclosure 1 and 
Insert A
Wait one minute and insert B
Wait one minute and insert C
Wait one minute and insert D

Repeat with enclosure 2.

Now you should have the configuration you want.

(a faster way to do the above is insert a disk, wait about 15 seconds and type diskutil list in terminal. When a new disk shows up in the list, then insert the next and repeat.)]]></content:encoded>

                        <content:encoded><![CDATA[I have two ThunderBay 4, 16TB units. If I want to create a 1+0 where the four primary drives are in enclosure 1 and the secondaries in enclosure 2, How can I make are A=A, B=B etc?

It's easy to choose Slot A1, B1, C1, D1 as the primaries, but the secondaries get randomly assigned so the mirror pairs might come out like:

A1=C2
B1=B2
C1=A2
D1=A2

How can I get them all to match slot-to-slot?]]></content:encoded>
