However, if you can erase it in Disk Utility as HFS Case Sensitive, we support it.

note; HFS can only be erased as a basic file system (not APFS). APFS cannot be erased as HFS or other basic file system.

So just use Disk Utility to erase the HFS volume as case sensitive MacOS Extended.

Please add an option in the "New Volume" dialog to select HFS+ Case-sensitive.
