SoftRAID will see them as 4 drives per shuttle, yes.

however, the first bay ini a Flex 8 is full speed U2, and the rest standard PCIe. So you will be limiting your performance by making a volume from the 2 slots, since the others bays have a max of 1200 MBs/, then the average of the two may be reduced to 1600MB/s, where as, the one bay alone can do over 2400 MB/s.

 

So the answer is yes, but you are better off with larger drives in the first bay.

I’m thinking about populating two NVMe M.2 shuttles, and would like to set it up with a Raid 5.  I need to know if Softraid is going to see it as 2 drives, or 8 drives. Thanks
