<p>this was the subject of my original post: trying to delete the volume in SoftRAID results in the error message 'an internal compononent no longer working...' and the crash report i supplied of the same</p>
<p>&gt;&gt; <span> If you get an error, what if you manually unmount all the volumes, then try to delete this volume?</span></p>
<p>I have not tried this, and can't right now as the volumes are in use-- i may be able to try this over the weekend.</p>

<p>it then hangs (i waited about 20 minutes) I force quit, and am not able to mount the volume (it shows up as umounted in both Disk Utility and SoftRAID and attempting to mount in either program does not work).  Perhaps would mount if i rebooted, but I can't do that right now.</p>
<p>I'm not sure what erasing the 'disk' would mean in this context-- the item (volume) I am trying to delete is a RAID volume creatred by SoftRAID and spread over 4 disks; these disks in turn are in use by other SoftRAID volumes that I want to keep...</p>]]></content:encoded>

<p>To attach a text file, it needs to be "text" not RTF, which is what TextEdit saves as. Fix that by using "make plain text" in Text Edit. then it is a text file.</p>
<p>All you should need to do is quit/relaunch the SoftRAID application to try again.</p>
<p>If you unmount the volume, can you "erase" it in Disk Utility? (either the disk (better), or the volume?</p>]]></content:encoded>

<p>When I try to do this in SoftRAID, it is successfully unmounted, then an error box comes up and says "an internal part of SoftRaid is no longer working- quit and restart".</p>
<p>This problem existed in the previous version (7.5) and I have just tried in 7.6 with same result.  Running Ventura 13.6 (but also had same issue with previous Ventura versions).  Mac Mini M1</p>]]></content:encoded>
