Then if that does not work, startup in verbose mode (command v when you start up) and see what the system is hanging at.

The thermometer bar slowly progresses to half way, and then halts with an alert window that "there's a problem" and initiates another restart. Disk Utility does not report any problems. Oddly the update was installed when it was first released. Any suggestions?
