What you have to do is this:

Connect only the disk for this volume. (or disks if a RAID volume)

uninstall SoftRAID driver

Run Disk Utility and erase this disk.

 

Now reinstall the SoftRAID driver. Make sure you "Allow" OWC again.

I can normally eject the drive - yes although sometimes it takes a few goes.

Brute force method is fine as I have no other choice and just want to empty the drive/array now. Happy to use terminal or whatever is necessary

Its a Time Machine volume, correct?

DId you delete this volume from Time Machine? that may allow this. Otherwise, we may have to use "Brute force" to delete it.

Running Big Sur 11.6 on an M1 MacBook Air with Softraid V6.2 and Driver V6.2

I have tried everything, rebooting, un-mounting etc. No other 'apps' are running.  Safeguard is Disabled.

No matter what I try it still keeps coming up with an error saying that an application is using the volume.
