Hi -

I've been attempting to resize a SoftRAID volume and keep running into the same error. I've restarted the app, and the computer, several times. I've also done the full uninstalled all components via the utilities menu and reinstalled, with no change in behavior. The only information in the logs is the following:

Tool terminating - status = 5, reason = NSTaskTerminationReasonUncaughtSignal
error

System is a Mac mini M1 on Mac OS 11.6 and SoftRAID 6.1

Where do I go from here?

Is this a APFS volume? If so, it is a known issue and we hope to fix this for 6.2.

@softraid-support Negative, it's HFS+.

Can you attach a SoftRAID tech support file? Maybe we can fix this for 6.2.

@rborkows

I can confirm it is a bug. I reproduced it.

I will add it to the list of bugs to fix, maybe it will make 6.2, which is the Monterey release. No promises.

Hi @softraid-support

I was having the similar issue and updated to 6.2, but this issue still persists. In my case I was trying to shrink the second partition in order to make the third. Is there any work around for this?

Maybe there is a workaround. Try using 6.0.5:

https://softraid.com/updates/SoftRAID%206.0.5.dmg

You do not need to install the 6.0.5 driver, so give it a try.

@softraid-support thank you for your suggestion. I tried it, and while I was able to change the size, I got this message at the end. The new partition I made from the free space couldn't be used in Time Machine for some reason.

@sgoto

See if it works in 6.05 (Catalina, though), as we introduced some bugs in resizing. We are working on them, for the next update.

Note: Time Machines volumes in Big Sur and later, require the volume to be APFS
