Apple Silicon M1 and Softraid: disks are not mount
I installed beta version of Softraid on a new Mac mini M1 with Big Sur, but I am not able to mount disks. If I select one listed disks and I click on one of them and I ask to mount it, the software seems work but then I see clearly that no disks was mounted.
I know the guys of Softraid working on several issue of compatibility, so any suggestions to solve this my problem is welcome. Meanwhile I'm using Softraid in a previous version of Mac mini waiting for use Softraid in new Mac mini M1
Did you perform these two steps?
Select reduced security and enable this:
Select the “Allow user management of kernel extensions from identified developers” checkbox to allow installation of software that uses legacy kernel extensions.
2. Did you allow OWC as an Identified developer in System Preferences/Security?
These are both 100% required or Big Sur will not load a driver.
Ok, I solve it, now work!
Only other two questions:
1) I get a message where Softraid comunicate to me that beta version go out in 45 days. There is a way to insert serial? Or I have to wait the next release?
2) I accidentally took out the second disk of a 2-disk mirror system (I have an external box with 4 disks and mistakenly took out the correct one). Now Softraid is asking me to add the second disk, which has rightly disappeared for him, to recreate the structure again. I tried to add the second disk, after deleting it (I'm on Mac mini M1) and suddenly Big Sur stopped and Mac mini restarted itself after a while. I preferred to do the rebuild on the old Mac mini for fear that some other problem might happen. What could have happened?
Keep updating your beta version until we release 6.0. SoftRAID Monitor will announce beta versions.
There is no debugging on the Mac Mini yet. I did some testing recently and did not see any issues adding secondary, so am not sure what may have happened. I will keep this on my test list.
Ok, I have last version of beta.
But...I continue to get an error with missing disk, but I don't see problems. What I do?
SoftRAID counts secondary disks and the counter says you have a third disk in your mirror. It is not "connected". So it is listed as missing.
Either you have it off line, or it was a disk you replaced in the mirror at some point.
To reset the secondary counter, "remove missing secondary disks" on the volume.
