Not sure where to put this;

I have a Thunderbay 4 that I am setting up and am wondering on the best way to keep an (off brand) external drive synchronized with it for extra backup purposes.

There isn't a way to do this with SoftRaid software is there?

I have used Rsync previously. Is another program recommended?

Thank you in advance!

There are several synch utilties that can do a good job.

Carbon Copy Cloner, SuperDuper, Chrono Sync and others.

CCC seems to have the greatest market share and uses rsync with a GUI.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Any benefit to using CCC vs RsyncOSX?

@moke

They use the same basic tool.

For a command line happy admin who is cloning data, they are likely similar in speed, probably capability.(CCC probably has additional file system tweaks incorporated, because of Bombich's unique knowledge of macOS)

However, 95% of users would never figure out how to download/install, let alone use RsyncOS. You are clearly in the minority and if you enjoy github projects (this uses homebrew in addition), then go for it. feel free to post your results.

Any user can use CCC, on the other hand and it has a ton of features, scheduling, validation, etc. You can use the free version forever, with a delay and the purchase price is modest for those who keep using it.
