I had problems with installing 5.8.3 and had to go through routine of disabling SIP before SoftRAID driver would work.
Worked fine for last three weeks or so.
Now, after a routine re-boot, the RAID volume disappeared. But SoftRAID sees the individual drives, all report no errors etc., but the volume itself won't mount.
This is not my idea of reliability!
Please someone get me out of this fix asap. I drive all the big stuff I use every single day like Capture One, DaVinci off the drive. Which is another way of saying I'm stuffed until it's fixed.
Mark J: one for thee!!

I try to mount (Control click on volume > Mount): it says it's 'mounting'. Then gives up after about 30secs and goes back to 'unmounted'.
I've tried re-installing driver on startup disk but get: 'Driver Installation Error'. I've tried both quitting and re-starting computer AND clicking 'continue' but no luck. When I try to mount the volume again, it doesn't mount.

Please, please can I get back to 5.8.2?
And this is urgent: the SSD Raid I run with SoftRaid is where I do most of my work!

Hello,
Since this week, there's something wrong with my mac（imac2017 with10.13.3):
Every time I mount my raid volumes (Akitio quadX 4-bay with raid5)，Mac would get stuck in about 15seconds , then it reboot automatically again and again, until I unplug the raid volumes.
ps: I haven’t do any upgrade either macOS or soft raid, and my softraid version is 5.6.7.

What’s interesting is that I have two of the same Akitio quadX enclosure with same disks and 4x raid5. One have this problem, but the other does not.

At first time, I thought there’s something wrong with the onclosure. I removed all the disks from the enclosure, and pluged one single new disk into it , and It can mount. I think it’s not the problem of the enclosure, maybe :) .And it’s nothing wrong with the cable too.

Waiting for your answer，thank you!

Everything was working fine with 5.8.1 version. Maybe it's a problem of the 5.8.2 driver? I tried to mount the volumes with different versions of the software but it didn't work

Except in High Sierra 10.13.6 on a MacMini Late 2012 with SoftRAID 5.8.2

If I open the app, it says in the bottom right "SoftRAID v 5.8.2 • Driver v 5.8.2"

Upon a fresh restart the "System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> General" panel has a message that says 'System software from developer "Other World Computing" was blocked from loading' with the Allow button. I can press the Allow button a thousand times and nothing changes. The padlock is unlocked before pressing Allow.

"App Store and identified developers" is selected in the "Allow apps downloaded from:" section.

When I issued the terminal command instructed in the other thread, here is the response:

Kext user-space log filter changed from 0xff2 to 0xfff.
Kext kernel-space log filter changed from 0xff2 to 0xfff.
Requesting load of /Library/Extensions/SoftRAID.kext.
/Library/Extensions/SoftRAID.kext failed to load - (libkern/kext) system policy prevents loading; check the system/kernel logs for errors or try kextutil(8).

The other thread talks about going back to 5.8.1. How do I do that? When I launch the 5.8.1 app it just warns me that the installed version is newer.

Thanks for any help.

I was using SoftRaid 5.8.0 without issues, but after updating to 5.8.1 I've subsequently been getting this error below. What does this mean and what should I do?

From what I can tell, my Raid 5 is operating just fine, and when open up the raid software I get no SMART errors or anything related to an error outside of this randomly popping up.

I am on a MacPro (5,1) running Mac OS X HS 10.13.6, and my RAID 5 is all INTERNAL drives mounted on my MP.

Thanks

Now if both of my 2 drives are plugged in (using two separate usb ports at the back of my imac, Raid 1), osx will crash within seconds. Have updated driver, removed and reinstalled.

I plugged one drive in, that works. In fact I plugged the other one in soon after and they somehow split, so I had two drives separately, and that did not cause a crash. But when I deleted the other volume, added it as secondary to the other and started rebuild, it crashed again within a minute or so.
