Not sure what the trigger was then, it could be anything that hung the system, such as a disk hanging. If it happens again, respost, but on a non M1 thread! ;-)

No. It froze while working and the internal keep alive timer rebooted the system.

I guess you did. Did this happen at shutdown? It is most likely. there is a bug in macOS, when there are 12 or more drives (approxiimately), it panics on shutdown. this looks like that bug. We have reported it. If we can work around it ourselves, we will do so in a future version of SoftRAID.

I also need a SoftRAID Tech support file, can you attach one? The M1 machines do not yet allow debugging, though, so it can be difficult or impossible to figure out what is happening.

I just got a total system freeze and reboot. This is with the latest Big Sur beta and your latest SoftRaid Beta. I don't know if it was your driver or not.

The shutdown panic was the Apple event. Three others may have been similar, I am not sure, have to ask engineering.

The 4:09, is unknown. The M1 has no debugging capability, so at the moment, no way to figure out the cause.

@softraid-support The 4:09 kernel panic was not at shutdown. It killed the system and the report on restart had softraid extension in the report. Was that one in there or only reboot ones?

I received them. At least one of these panics is an Apple kernel bug, when too many disks are connected, it hangs at shutdown. this is because macOS flushes the disk cache's at shutdown, Synchronously (one at a time), and if it takes longer than the timeout period, it crashes. About 12 disks is what I see in my testing, depending on the disk sizes.
