I'm having two issues with SoftRAID 6.0.1b48 and Big Sur 11.1:
1. Whenever I try to shut down my iMac Pro the system will restart automatically unless I unmount my external SoftRAID volumes first.
2. When I attempt to eject my softRAID drives manually, the drives will unmount but the icons will remain on the desktop.
Are these known bugs?
Other than these two issues I've found the beta to be quite reliable and stable.

1. Do you have 12 or more drives? Then it is a kernel bug in macOS. Unmounting is the correct step. We are investigating a workaround and have also reported this to Apple. If you watch the drives, they blink sequentially for 10-30 seconds each. It is a synchronous flushing of cache, so if there are too many drives, the Timeout triggers and the shutdown crashes. (It should be asynchronous, all at once!)
2. No this is not a known bug. Are you using the UI? Are they HFS? If you unmount from the desktop, (command e), they unmount normally? if you have APFS volumes, then SoftRAID cannot unmount them yet.

Thanks for the quick reply.
1. I have 4 separate RAID volumes, 16 drives total. Each volume was created with softRAID.
2. They are all HFS+. SoftRAID crashes if I try and unmount them via the UI. If I unmount them from the desktop the icons remain for a few minutes before disappearing (occasionally some don't) but I am then able to shutdown the system without it restarting on its own.

The disks would hang on shutdown even if you seroed them and they had no file system on them. It is a kernel bug. We are looking at workarounds, until Apple fixes this. that is why your experience when you unmount them.
I am curious on the UI unmount crash. Is there a crash log? Is it "the application MUST quit and be restarted", or "The application SoftRAID has quit because of an error?"
(those are different, actually, one is an application crash, the other is the Monitor losing contact with the driver.)

Scratch that. I can unmount the disks (and the disk image) via softRAID without issue if I do that first. SoftRAID will hang only if I do the following, in order: Eject the disks via the finder (disk image remains on the desktop), then try to unmount agin via softRAID = spinning beach ball/hang.

Thanks. When we add APFS support, that will be automatically fixed.
