@softraid-support I have a non-working 11.2.1 system without a tm snapshot, so I am desperate to get my raids reattached...

I eagerly await a report. At the moment I don't have time to run the experiment myself but will eagerly upgrade if there's a reliable report of success.

It's just nuts that you're not allowed to comment on something as important as this. Apple destroys critical functionality in an update (as they did with 11.2) and even if you know about it you're not allowed to warn users? That's not what an NDA should be about.

Mac Mini M1. 256 & 8gb.

2 Thunderbay 4's and 2 Thunderbay Mini's all Thunderbolt 2

- 11.3 Public Beta 2.

- SoftRAID 6.0.1 b52

SoftRAID launches. Shows RAID arrays. Still can't mount.

:(

@softraid-support Just updated to 20E5186d (11.3 Beta 2), running SoftRaid 6.0.1 b52... no luck. My RAIDs remain unmountable. What now?

It is what it is. I would guess that most in Apple would understand, but any complaint can create a problem. So we have to try to stay within bounds.

Users have confirmed that the 11.3 beta 2 does not fix the issue. Its frustrating. I have no additional information at this time, but will work on getting more information.

I tested this myself to be certain, also. But could not comment, unfortunately. I was hoping the "public" beta, today would have added this. Its apparently a small change/fix.

We will update the web site tomorrow.

@jordankirkham

Thank you for confirming this. I can confirm also that it does not work, now that some users have posted.

I do not know why this was not fixed. It is very frustrating!

Its incredibly frustrating!

If we learn anything we can share, we will.

I'm sticking to 11.1 until it fixed...

I have a 16" MPB running 10.15.7 and SoftRAID 5.8.4, as well as a Mac mini M1 running 11.2.1.

If I upgrade the 16" to Big Sur, am I going to lose my TB8 and TB4 RAID systems?

Or is this only an M1 issue?

I'm hoping that my investment in these systems and SoftRAID was a good move... not so sure right now.

I can also confirm it doesn't work. I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver. I get the popup that the system extension was blocked but there's no way to unblock it in security preferences.

@softraid-support According to your own words, "The 11.3 beta will soon fix this.The 11.3 beta released today does not have the fix, the next beta update will definitely have the fix according to our source." What does your source have to say about this update? Will there be another beta that does have the fix? Will we find ourselves on 11.3 stable with no working drivers? I have Backblaze telling me it's been 14 days without seeing my external drives and they will only keep that data backed up another 16 days. OWC has been the premier source for Mac focused hardware, so it's very disheartening to see you guys caught flatfooted by these updates with no remediation for your customers.

@desertnomad

This is only an M1 issue. And "short term", although (in my humble opinion) it should have already been fixed. ;-)

As others have noted, the macOS driver model is changing, perhaps as early as later this year, which removes this kind of issue permanently.

@heavyweather

I have no answer for you. I did believe 11.3 beta 2 was going to fix this.

We will post information when we have information we can share.

You need to stay with 11.1, yes.
