Sadly, I know. the 11.3 beta 2 update does not fix the problem.
The post you saw, I was asking a user to confirm they did this test, as I wanted to respond to others, that the fix was not in beta 2. Its confusing, but I need to be clear about beta version comments. It is challenging to follow the required rules and still help users navigate this problematic issue.
I just purchased a new M1 MP, to replace a broken iMac, and now I have no access to my drives. They display in SoftRAID, but don't mount. I did the permissions fixes outlined earlier, but no dice. I'm running the latest beta 6.0.1b52. I actually still have 11.0.1 installed, and haven't done any updates. Should it be functional with this build or should I be upgrading to 11.1 specifically to make this functional?
My old computer is non functional, so I'm completely locked out of all of my files and unable to work if I can't sort this out.
Did you do this?
https://support.apple.com/en-lk/guide/mac-help/mchl768f7291/mac
Select reduced security and enable this:
Select the “Allow user management of kernel extensions from identified developers” checkbox to allow installation of software that uses legacy kernel extensions.
Did you "Allow" OWC as an identified developer?
I did complete those steps, gave full disk access to SoftRAID, and selected "App store and identified developers"
I never saw a prompt to "Allow" OWC as an identified developer. I did see that in your documentation elsewhere, but I never saw that come up for me. Not sure how to force that to occur.
Thanks
Attach a SoftRAID tech support file. I can look for clues.
Nothing obvious here.
Lets try this:
"uninstall SoftRAID" from utilities menu
restart
Open System Preferences/Security and unlock
Run SoftRAID, install driver.
Before you restart, go to System Preferences. Does it offer you to "Allow" OWC as an identified developer?
That is the key you are looking for. once you allow, the SoftRAID driver will load.
I am assuming you did this already:
https://support.apple.com/en-lk/guide/mac-help/mchl768f7291/mac
Select reduced security and enable this:
Select the “Allow user management of kernel extensions from identified developers” checkbox to allow installation of software that uses legacy kernel extensions.
The uninstall/reinstall did it!
I was able to see/select the “Allow user management of kernel extensions from identified developers” checkbox this time.
Thanks!
looks like MacOS 11.2.2 was just released. Anybody tried it yet? Any hope it will fix Softraid? (not willing to risk it myself)
We are downloading it currently and can post results this evening. However, I do not think this has the fix.
@softraid-support pretty sure it's a hot-fix only addressing non-compliant external hubs.
It looks like these issues still exist on the 11.3 beta 2 :(. Does anyone know if there's a manual way to remove/accept kext permissions from a developer via the terminal and clear the developers being listed under Disabled Software?
I do not. This 11.2 bug is slightly different though, the SoftRAID driver is being blocked from loading from a macOS Big Sur bug.
Hopefully the (likely) Tuesday release of the next 11.3 beta will fix this issue.
@softraid-support I can confirm I get the same problem as @sunstarfire when trying manual kextload. M1 and 11.3 Beta (20E5186e).
Lets cross our fingers for Tuesday. Beta 3 should fix this, but note that I need a user to confirm, before we can say anything.
