APFS should be more reliable, but there are no repair/recovery tools, so keep that in mind. APFS is also much slower, so on HDD's, you pay a large performance penalty.

We cannot convert HFS to APFS at this time, its something in our future plans however.

Upgrade to 6.1 went reasonably smooth for me ignoring the permissions acceptance, reboot and old version removal steps that should really just happen behind the scenes automagically. Question... how reliable is APFS external RAIDs? Is it possible to somehow convert HFS+ RAID 4 volumes to APFS easily without risk of losing everything? Is there any advantages to doing so?

Apps with drivers are a bit different. The apps are "inert" unless you launch them. The new Application is needed to install the driver. The old app is not needed, so just delete it.

OK, I found the bit in the manual that said to run the new version and that it would update the drivers, remove the old software, and require a reboot. I did that and it is now running the new version but it did not remove the old version. I put the directory for the old version in the trash, and I hope it's cleanly updated.

I already rebooted and it's still running version 6.0.5. What installs the new drivers?

It does not really matter, but you can delete the application. Very simple.

I downloaded the latest version of SoftRAID 6.1 and it instructed me to copy the package to the Applications folder but now I have 2 versions there: 6.0.5 and 6.1 and it's still running version 6.0.5. How do I complete the update so it's running 6.1 and version 6.0.5 is removed from my system? I can't find any instructions for this.
