SoftRAID uses online help, every dialog box has a ? which links to a help topic for that dialog box.

Zero disk means zero the whole disk. 100 sectors only does a small amount of the disk. enough to wipe the partition maps.

Download SoftRAID again.

Run it and install the driver. Once installed, then run SoftRAID

Then you can uninstall again.

This is a bug in Disk Utility.

I have two external ThunderBlade SSD drives. One is 2TB and the other is 4TB. Last week OWC Customer Support had me download and install SoftRAID on my iMac running Big Sur version 11.3. 

A few days later, I had my internal drive replaced with a new Samsung SSD 860 EVO 4TB. Then, while on a call with Apple, I erased the internal drive and reinstalled macOS Big Sur with a completely new operating system. At this point it is likely that none of the SoftRAID software remained on the computer as I did not reinstall it.

Now, when I tried to reformat my ThunderBlade 2TB drive, DiskUtility said it could not reformat a SoftRAID drive.

So, if the system has been completely replaced with new macOS and SoftRAID software was not reinstalled, then just how does DiskUtility know that the drive is a SoftRAID drive unless the SoftRAID drivers were installed on the disk?

Any ideas?

What are you trying to accomplish? remove the driver, or change the disks so they are in Apple format?
