I have been able to disconnect the disks from the volume and they are currently undergoing validation, but I cannot delete the volume. It keeps telling me that the volume has safeguard enabled. However, all attempts at disabling safeguard have failed. Choosing the Disable Safeguard command gets me the dialog to enter my password, but after entering it and hitting OK, nothing happens and the safeguard stays enabled.

Is there a way to force the safeguard disable or otherwise delete the volume?
