I saw the driver 6.0.3 noted somewhere, I just can't find it.  Not to say it has no issues loading.  I just wanted to make sure that is the case.  Big Sur's rollout, has been a catastrophe if you ask me.

Update:  Found it.  Bottom right of SR panel.

Also, ⌘-Q doesn't quit the app.

@dabee

DId you get a chance to "Allow" OWC as an identified developer in System Preferences/ Security?

If you did not get it, or the option is not available, then the driver cannot load.

@softraid-support I've never seen that.

So the software you speak about, will clear all this?

@dabee

MacOS now requires each extension to be 'validated' by the user, so you need to go to System Preferences/Security and Allow OWC as an Identified Developer.

When you install teh SoftRAID driver, this dialog box should pop up to point you there. Sometimes, the option is in System Preferences/Security, but the dialog box fails to pop up, but you can do it manually.

We discovered that sometimes Big Sur finds an extension it does not like, then simply refuses to load some or all extensions until the older extensions are removed.

OK, where would this be?  I can't find OWC anywhere.  General doesn't mention OWC.  That has to be induced.  I tried opening up SR and Validating the volume, but still nothing. See attachment.  The driver was installed some time ago and I would have given permissions.

How do I uninstall it or remove the extension so I can reinstall the driver?  I only found preferences with no reference to !'6.0.3'.

This is exacly what I was expecting, it is not available. But unless it is, macOS will continue blocking the driver.

In going back, I do not see your SoftRAID Tech support file. Can you attach one?

@softraid-support OK.  I was told at some point that connecting to Support directly would be a solution.  That's why I thought you were holding back.

And I will repeat that the software will not allow me to generate any report.  Is that what you mean?  I can't do anything with this software but post log errors.

Generate one via command line:

softraidtool generatereport ~/Desktop/5-2-2021-DeeRich.sr_supt

You can attach that. If the driver is installed, the terminal should let you create one.

Note: the threading it confusing this problem, there are multiple conversations on this thread, and that appeared to be your first post?

You also user daBee?

Sorry, all havoc has broken loose for some reason.  Yes we are both me.  The report cannot be generated:

 ➜ softraidtool generatereport ~/Desktop/5-2-2021-DeeRich.sr_supt
Executing: /usr/bin/kmutil showloaded
No variant specified, falling back to release

Sorry to be a broken record here, but did you allow "reduced security" for third party developers here? (I need to confirm, as nothing obvious is wrong)

https://support.apple.com/en-lk/guide/mac-help/mchl768f7291/mac

After wards, if you reinstalled SoftRAID driver (volumes menu when clicking on the startup volume tile in SoftRAID), did you get the pop up dialog box to go to System Preferences?
If you did, did you allow?

If you did not reinstall the SoftRAID driver and restart and go to System Preferences/Security and see if the option to Allow OWC as an identified developer is available.

I do not see there is any reason not.

I am of course assuming after resetting third party security the application can run.

If it cannot, try it with the beta version:

Yes that was done about a week ago.  There is no ability to reinstall drivers.  Apparently the drivers are reporting the matching version (6.0.3) and it is all greyed out.  See attached.

@dabee

To reinstall the SoftRAID driver, click on the startup volume tile, then you can "reinstall SoftRAID driver". Drivers are not on disks, they are in the system folder.

Confirm you were able to perform step 2, "Allow OWC as an identified developer". If so, attach a SoftRAID Tech Support file, so I can make sure it is a driver issue and not a volume directory issue.

Et voila.  I had to uninstall it, then reinstall it.  That System Preferences panel had this approval behind another button, not like the usual approval method when trying to use other apps.  It mounted and I'm validating the volume for the next 9 hours.

All is good.  I don't suspect any more issues.  Cheers.
