I've been having some issues with my Thunderbay 4 with Thunderbolt 2 on my MacBook Pro M1 16GB using offical adaptor TB3 to TB2 and on Softraid 6

It connects all good of course but then a good couple minutes later it'll just want to go to sleep, and then once I continue to do video editing work for example, it seems to wake up from sleep and slows Final Cut Pro down as it tries to load well again.

How can I just have it running without it going to sleep on its own.

Thanks.

This is controlled by System Preferences, set the drives to not go to sleep and disable sleep as much as you can. You can always manually sleep the computer.

Is the slowdown, just when the drives spin up? Then all is OK? Then this is just a minor issue and disable put drives to sleep should fix it.

@softraid-support

so when I use Final Cut Pro X for example, the drives run fine, able to edit then after couple of so minutes, if I'm on Safari, the drives will slow down or seem to be like its turned off, then when I go back to FCPX again the drives switch on and takes its time for FCPX to read the media and be able to continue editing.
I don't know whether what's happening is the drives sleeping or not.

I do have sleep turned off for drives etc. Is there any specific settings that should check out?

@softraid-support the app didn't open up for me, interesting that the Beta version was listed as as version 1.1.4 and not 2.0

Maybe its wrong installer they labelled incorrectly?

@pmitchell

You mean 1.1.3? The 2.0 version is not released yet. I downloaded it directly and it loaded. All it does is keep the machine awake. Give it a try.

@softraid-support tried it and didn't work, drives would go to sleep and going back to Final Cut Pro it'll try to wake up again.

I have this exact issue with my set up. Running thunderbay 4's through the adapter into my MBP 13 M1. Drives sleep if inactive for a bit. Impossible to video edit from. Any resolution with this?? I've unchecked the options in system prefs.

@fergusonfilms

Sleep is totally controlled by macOS. SoftRAID is not involved. You have sleep set to never? and uncheck "put drives to sleep"?

Maybe try changing the settings and restart? (reset the file with the settings)

Or try the third party app "caffeine"?
