The computer has frozen twice on me when I go into Softraid and attempt to "unmount" all of the drives, (after clicking the umount button, the computer freezes), before turning them off physically and turning off the computer. However, I tried to recreate the problem just now, and it seems to be unmounting without issue. If the problem occurs again, I'll attach the "report to apple" details in a text-edit file.

Thanks very much!

I just got rid of my Drobo (because they have since gone bankrupt, and Apple announced they will no longer be supporting it). I bought a new OWC Thunderbay 4 Raid 5 (76TB).

Now, when I try to eject all of my drives in Softraid before turning off my mac, my Mac Studio gives me a pink screen and CRASHES. This has made the problem even worse, I now don't have anyway of shutting down my computer without it crashing and re-starting.

Any ideas or updates to a fix to this serious issue?

I have a Drobo 8D, Drobo 5D3, Pegasus 32, NVME Sabrent connected and never had an issue on the the MacStudio, introduced my OWC Thunderbay 4 in to the mix and when I start up my Studio computer will start up to immediately shut down again (Raid 5).

Only way around is to disconnect Thunderbay start up mac and fully boot and then plug Thunderbay back in.

Again OWC the only devices with this issues Apple must not like you guys.

Is there a fix as that is painfull??

What I do to get around this problem is to first eject my online data drives using Finder, then after waiting some minutes for drive activity to diminish, I power down the first drive enclosure in the chain (I only have one TB chain with 6 enclosures). This causes the other enclosures to turn off (orange lights). I then shut down my machine and it shuts down cleanly without restart. The next day after computer power up, I power on the first drive enclosure, which allows all the enclosures/drives to mount normally. I've been doing this procedure for many months without issue.

Hope this helps.

It doesn't seem to be working for me at all. I've tried umounting the drives, letting the computer go to sleep with the enclosures attached, and the enclosures never turn orange. The only way to shut down my computer, is to unmount all of the enclosures, UNPLUG the thunderbolt cable physically, then shut down the machine.

Hoping Apple resolves this soon.
