I would do it this way, its not that important:

deactivate SoftRAID license on your 2016

Migrate to new computer. (I would not have the drives connected no need)

Do these steps:

Then run SoftRAID on the MacBook Pro, if you did not already and install the driver, and activate your license. Connect your drives.

that should take care of your migration.

I know this is an old thread, but I have a related question. I am about to move from my 2016 intel MacBook Pro to a M2 MacBook Pro. Question: Should I uninstall SoftRAID, including unregistered my license, on my old MacBook Pro before using Migration Assistant to move over to the new MacBook Pro?

Apple has announced they are moving away from kernel extensions in the core, moving them to "user space", but have not released the developer kits for this.

APFS resizing is going to require more APFS documentation. We do not have the tools to do this yet.

First thing you must do is this:

Select reduced security and enable this:
Select the “Allow user management of kernel extensions from identified developers” checkbox to allow installation of software that uses legacy kernel extensions.

then you can install the SoftRAID driver and "Allow" OWC as an identified developer.

Note: if this is a RAID 5 volume, a % of users, I would guess 2-5%, get kernel panics when their enclosure is connected. There are some workarounds available.

Other than that, it should be easy to migrate.

I'm about to retire my Intel iMac and move to an Apple Silicon iMac, I have my media files and archives on a SoftRAID RAID 1 volume, running SoftRAID 6.2.1.

I was just going to shutdown my old iMac, plug the RAID drives into the new M1 iMac and re-install the SoftRAID driver & software to get the RAID mounted, is there anything else I should do or anything I need to be aware of before I start on this?
