Hi,
After a long month I just received a Flex 8 replacement RAID couple days ago (the previous has faulty CFexpress reader, the new one has not working white/blue status LEDs!!). Not funny but the big problems ahead. I've installed the disks and the RAID was working fine.
Today I've turned on the Flex8 RAID5 which consists of 8x 16TB drives which holds my whole audio visual archive. I couldn't believe my eyes but I got: SoftRAID Volume Missing Disks. The volume is missing more than one disk. It does not have enough of its disk to mount... At the same time I can see all the 8 disks on the disk pane. Each disk has green "no errors" sign also 112TB Volume "no errors"... unmounted. No way to mount the RAID5.

What to do? I'm depressed. No errors or 1 or more disks are missing (which one if any?) All the disks after DriveDX inspection diagnosis are fine. And all the disks are clearly visible with "no errors" in SoftRAID... I'm attaching a tech support report.
Does your RAID5 offer any data protection? Or was it a mistake a I should stay with single disks option and get 8x less disk header error probability? How to protect RAID from such a errors? Looks like single stupid mounting point error crashes my all 8 disks RAID with 8 physically working drives?

This was an 8 drive RAID 5?
This would be a problem I have not encountered before.
Try one restart, if it does not auto correct, let me know.

Yes 8 drive RAID5.
I'm happy to confirm a restart helped me!! Ufff. Such a relief.
So the question is how to safely archive the "HDD system/header information" from happening such a things? AFAIK Disk Warrior it's not a miracle tool, sometimes it cannot help?

Disk Warrior is a miracle tool, but is not being updated frequently, I am unclear if it will ever make it into M1 computers.
Let me know if that problem happens again. If SoftRAID states 2 drives are missing, they should be missing. the only other thing is if the drives "disappear" momentarily, you get a pop up dialog box and by the time you launch the app, they are back. Could that have been the case?

They say DiskWarrior 5.3 with M1 support will be the next update, I hope it will...
In my case every time I've turned on the RAID yesterday SoftRAID told me 2 or more drives are missing.
It took me long time to try to restart the computer and see all 8 disks are back!
Yes it's typical for SoftRAID when launching to show message all drive are missing but just for one second (HDD or SSD)

I wonder if one of the PIC slots in the enclosure are not powering up correctly.
Give each disk a SoftRAID disk label (disks menu)
See if the "missing disks" are the same each time.
Next time this message comes up it should be in the SoftRAID log, so save a new support file and attach.

You should also open the side panel and make sure all the cards are seated tightly. Best is probably reseat all the connectors. Make sure they are firmly connected.

Thank you, I double checked, everything is seated properly.
btw do you know why the white/blue status LED is not working on my replacement Flex 8? The white LED right after turning on was on for a 3 sec and then the blue LED was extremely dim but now the LED is completely off...

Follow these instructions: https://eshop.macsales.com/tech_center/manuals/TBFlex8-SAS-Install.pdf to ensure that the built in PCIe card and SAS cables are seated properly. No need to replace the card, just uninstall and reinstall it.

I have a default setup just 8 SATA drives. Every cable is seated properly. Unfortunately still no power/status LED :(

Could you tell me ss this normal or abnormal behavior? The same with my SSD. SoftRAID needs a few seconds to check the drives before it know it's RAID. I've recorded short video clip while launching the SoftRAID: https://mab.to/uyQdQyrqd

The app records drives in real time. So anything you see inside the application when you launch it is normal, as drives respond in different times. that is normal.
Dialog boxes that disks are missing, or disappeared is not normal.

@artik For your power indicator light, I think you have to talk to macsales Support. I am unable to help with something like this, but it is not normal behavior.

My raid 1+0 is showing up as 2 raids. It is functioning "properly" in terms of being able to transfer/read/write data, but it is unclear if the mirror is working. Please help. Trying to attach screen shots but this won't allow png files. tried to generate a support file but softraid keeps freezing. Running monterrey on a 12 core mac pro. please help
