Didn't have a spare eSATA cable though, to test out cable issues. Changed to USB on the drive dock just to keep moving forward.]]></content:encoded>

It's a currently in a Voyager Q Drive Dock, using an eSATA port (it also has USB 3.0, and firewire ports). I'll see if I have another eSATA cable, for one thing.

The disk shows no predicted failure in SoftRAID.

Haven't tried to verify, I'll run that next.]]></content:encoded>

More information needed. While it does not look good for this disk, you should make sure it is the disk, not something else.
What kind of enclosure? (Thunderbolt? USB?)
Is the disk showing any Predicted Failure alerts in SoftRAID?
If you now do a "verify disk" On this disk, does it pass?

Its best to find out if a disk is faulty before putting into service, though!]]></content:encoded>
