These are new enclosures and the Samsung seem to be finicky. I have a set of Samsung 970 Pro SSD's that generated a few IO errors early on, but once they settled in (whatever that means for an SSD), the unit has been working fine.

Note: also make sure you have the blades firmly inserted in the slots! Perhaps that is a factor here.

Is there any problem in using Softraid (or the OWC Express device) through a Thundrbolt 3 to 2 cable?

In our forum, you do not need to post long log files, they are not really useful. A sample line or two is fine, but unlike the Apple forums, that kind of information is not very useful.

When you tried again, did you restart?

We have been finding the Samsung SSD's sometimes need more time to settle in. try another 3 pass certify, then create a volume again. Once they settle in, they should be fine. It is something I have noticed several times, where the drives generate some errors, but eventually it stops and they are reliable afterwards.

Good luck!

Hi - I bought an OWC Express 4M2 for Christmas for my father in law.

I’’ve installed two 500GB Samsung 970 EVO NVME sticks and certified them fine.

I’m then able to create a Raid 0 disk (I want this to be the boot disk for his iMac Retina 21” 2015 - connected via a Thunderbolt 2 port via an Apple Thunderbolt 2 to 3 converter).

When I first tried to create a bootable copy of the mail hard disk using SuperDuper, I got about 100GB into the copy when I got a disk error and the copy was cancelled.

I tried again - but then found that the this time SuperDuper failed to even erase the disk.

The error log from SuperDuper is below.

Any suggestions?

Thank you,
