so I tried to add but had no luck, I think I have to remove bad drive first
I'm just scared to do something wrong and loose data

OWC advice. .....

With the unit turned off replace the specific drive that is having the problem and then you can turn that back on.

Within the SoftRAID select the new drive:

1. Go to volume and "Validate" to validate the new drive.
2. Go to Erase under volume to format the new drive.
3. Go to volume and with the RAID selected you should then be able to select the new drive as part of that and use the Rebuild option.

Hi
Wondering if you can help

Using SoftRAID XT, I have a 4 x 3TB drives set up as a RAID 5
I had an alert pop up about one of the drives failing in the next 20-60 days.
I copied most of my work and did a restart and now the failing drives didn’t show and the RAID doesn't mount

I have purchased a replacement drive

OWC suggested this.......
Within the SoftRAID select the new drive:
1. Go to volume and "Validate" to validate the new drive.
2. Go to Erase under volume to format the new drive.
3. Go to volume and with the RAID selected you should then be able to select the new drive as part of that and use the Rebuild option.

I did a certified the new drive, but “Validate” didn't show so I tried verify the drive
But I can’t get to join my RAID 5

do I need to remove the faulty drive before adding new one?
Any ideas
I’m really stuffed as I have a deadline (I know in these times) and need to get the data off the RAID

Any help appreciated

thx
