I have a question before I buy soft raid.

I run parallel UBS drives with the same media contents for safety.
The parallelism is now achieve Eve's by daily synch/backup.
Looks like soft raid 1 would be the better solution.

But I want to be able to take one of the drives out every now and then and carry with me to use the media.
I don't want to carry both UBS drives.
The base computer is shut off durInt such off site excursions.
The traveling drive is attached by UBS to a laptop.
Importantly, new media files will be added during the excursions.
Afterwards, reattach and run.

Can I do this or equivalent if I have soft raid 1 on the two drives?

So I want the take one of the raid 1 drive to another machine, and or manipulate files, and bring it back and get everything mirrored again.

Thanks!
