Drive performance varies widely. They also get slow near the end of the drive platters. So the only way to be "accurate" is test every single drive model available, which is not practical. We are just giving a relative estimate based on the current drive performance.

Its close enough, in our opinion.

If you connected them via USB 3, at least they could certify at full speed.

If USB 3 devices are connecting over a USB 3 bus, at USB 2 protocol, it can be a cable issue, Mac OS (sometimes connects to USB at the slower rate arbitrarily).

If you think they should be talking at USB 3, then restart and see what SoftRAID shows in the disks column. If USB 3, restart the certify and it will go much faster.

If it connects at USB 2 again, check your cables, etc. (and make sure your USB is actually USB 3)

Hi folks. I made up a brand new spankin collection (not a RAID yet) of 4 x 4 TB drives. Then verified yesterday afternoon. She's still goin. I'm on pass 1 of 3. The documentation said somewhere about a "Why not take a weekend to verify?", and I'm not ⅓ the way through yet:

drive 1: current offset 1,053,000,000, time remaining: 699:34:02
drive 2: current offset 1,053,501,000, time remaining: 700:46:03
drive 3: current offset 1,053,817,000, time remaining: 701:13:47
drive 4: current offset 1,055,000,000, time remaining: 701:27:15

So 12 hours to go? That's what it said this morning at 8am. How is it that it's not even ⅓ done yet? Will this be done by the end of this weekend (3 days from now), because I need to move on with my work.

Truly confusing. There has to be a way of better estimating time like this.

Cheers
