At this rate it drops 3 hours per day of verifying. So 2.5 more days. This "time remaining" indicator is hugely misleading. I think you might want to rethink this algo. Cheers Drive performance varies widely. They also get slow near the end of the drive platters. So the only way to be "accurate" is test every single drive model available, which is not practical. We are just giving a relative estimate based on the current drive performance. It was in full use by me well before USB 3.x was even thought of. It's not the cable, it's the machine. So given this rate, how long do you think this will take? Let's say it's 30 MB/s, what fraction is this of USB 3.x? USB 3.0 supports (real world) >300MB/s, which is 10 x faster than what you would get with USB 2.0.
