there are no known kernel panics caused by the SoftRAID driver.
Volumes failing to mount (directory issues) have plagued Thunderbolt since its introduction, as the disks/enclosures can eject from the bus, causing slow degradation of the directory.

My opinion is you can safely upgrade, yes.

I am using ThunderBay on macOS 10.12, and SoftRAID 5.7.5 which is working pretty rock solid by now. It looks like Apple will discontinue macOS Sierra as soon as macOS Catalina has been released. Unfortunately third-party developers starting to drop support for macOS 10.12 and I am forced to upgrade. I am totally aware that Apple restricted booting from non-Apple volumes and RAID volumes and that there is no real time protection on startup volumes. @Apple, huge mistake!!

I followed along the High Sierra and Mojave issues in the SoftRAID forum. I have read about kernel panics, various bugs introduced by a security update and mount failures in Mojave and High Sierra. These posts keep me from upgrading. Does OWC ThunderBay and SoftRAID 5.7.5 work reliable on macOS Mojave?
