Update: we created a simple PDF to help here:
https://www.softraid.com/pages/support/5.8_Volumes_Not_Mounting.pdf

We released 5.8.2 today and have had a small number of reports that their volume does not mount after updating.

The SoftRAID driver is prevented from loading, we do not know why yet.

If you have this issue and found this thread, paste this into terminal (You will need your password) and then post a note with the output (as text).

For terminal:
sudo kextload -v 6 /Library/Extensions/SoftRAID.kext

Then you can go back to 5.8.1. We will investigate over the next few days.

Just upgraded, have this exact issue. Thank you for this post, I was freaking out I'd just lost 48 TB of data!!!

Kext user-space log filter changed from 0xff2 to 0xfff.
Kext kernel-space log filter changed from 0xff2 to 0xfff.
Requesting load of /Library/Extensions/SoftRAID.kext.
/Library/Extensions/SoftRAID.kext failed to load - (libkern/kext) system policy prevents loading; check the system/kernel logs for errors or try kextutil(8).

Try this:
Open System Preferences, Security Pane.
unlock the pane.

Now Run SoftRAID.
Do you have the option for "allow" identified Developers, i.e, Other World Computing?

Allow it. You may need to "reinstall the SoftRAID driver", but then, I am guessing your volume will mount.

I am still learning the cause of this, but think this is involved.

I am having the exact same issue. Need a resolution ASAP!

Here is the response in Terminal:

Kext user-space log filter changed from 0xff2 to 0xfff.
Kext kernel-space log filter changed from 0xff2 to 0xfff.
Requesting load of /Library/Extensions/SoftRAID.kext.
/Library/Extensions/SoftRAID.kext failed to load - (libkern/kext) system policy prevents loading; check the system/kernel logs for errors or try kextutil(8).

There is no option in the Security Pane to allow OWC.

HELP!!

The SoftRAID driver is prevented from loading, we do not know why yet.

For terminal:
sudo kextload -v 6 /Library/Extensions/SoftRAID.kext

Then you can go back to 5.8.1. We will investigate over the next few days.

The command returned:

Kext user-space log filter changed from 0xff2 to 0xfff.
Kext kernel-space log filter changed from 0xff2 to 0xfff.
Requesting load of /Library/Extensions/SoftRAID.kext.
/Library/Extensions/SoftRAID.kext loaded successfully (or already loaded).

Then, the array mounted.

I'm running Catalina 10.15.3 on an iMac (Retina 5K, 27 inch, Late 2015). The array is "12.0TB OWC ThunderBay 4, four-drive HDD with dual Thunderbolt 20Gb/s ports."

Was it expected that the drive should mount after running the command?

If it seems stable, I intend to stay with 5.8.2; but if it degrades, I'm glad you said going back to 5.8.1 is an option.

Thank you.

The problem is the System Preferences Security Pane. We changed our "Identified Developer" name to Other World Computing. This has to be allowed in System Preferences.

Open System Preferences. Go to Security Tab.
Unlock the Preferences.
Run SoftRAID

Other World Computing should be listed as a third party developer, and you can now allow OWC as an Identified Third Party Developer.

Restart.
Your should volumes mount

If not yet, then:
Go back to SoftRAID.

Select your startup volume and "reinstall SoftRAID driver".

Restart

Did the other steps work?

Did you allow OWC as an Idendified developer?

Reinstall the latest Mojave Combo updater and try running SoftRAID again.

https://support.apple.com/downloads/combo

If this does not work, we will need to see a SoftRAID tech support file.

The process description works but is directionally correct but hard to follow. I suggest the following description of the process:

1. Open System Preferences
2. Open "Security & Privacy"
3. Click the Lock to make changes
4. Enter your password
5. On the bottom right of the screen find the line "Some system software was blocked from loading"
6. To the right, click on the tab "allow"
7. Find the OWC line and check the box.
8. Click OK
9. Click on the Lock "Click the lock to prevent further changes"
10. re-start

I realized that this thread related only to Mojave. My problem was with 5.8.2 and Catalina. I eventually figured it out by deciphering the instructions regarding working with the Security & Privacy settings.

We will try to create better instructions today, with screen captures, etc.

Lets make sure you do not have a different problem, if you are running 10.13.6, I do not think you would run into this.

Look in the volume tile for your volume. Is there a "disk identifier"?
Or are there two -'s for that and mountpoint?

Went back to 5.8.1

still no RAID

Kext user-space log filter changed from 0xff2 to 0xfff.
Kext kernel-space log filter changed from 0xff2 to 0xfff.
Requesting load of /Library/Extensions/SoftRAID.kext.
/Library/Extensions/SoftRAID.kext loaded successfully (or already loaded).

Running Mojava 10.14.6

The forum is too slow when your volumes do not mount.

Send a SoftRAID tech support file to support at softraid, and we can figure this out for you.
