Hello again, just a quick follow up,

I swapped the (non-owc) enclosure for a faster 10gbps one, and I think it was a hardware problem with the slower enclosure. I re-initialized the disks in the new enclosure, and now not only is the icon staying blue, but odd behavior like the application closing when validating disks has stopped.

I was still getting kernel panics at first with the new enclosure, but instead of logging i/o errors that couldn't be cleared, it was able to read the drives. I changed the stripe size to 64k to see if that would help with the panics and so far so good.

Thanks again,

Hello,

I am in the middle of the trial on your software, and need some help.

I created 2 volumes, Raid 5 (3 disks) and a striped disk set in a 5 bay hard drive enclosure.

So this morning, I ran into the dreaded "Pet cat unplugs usb-c cable while transferring files" from one volume to the other.

Needless to say, Softraid got very angry about this, posting errors, insulting my mom, but oddly not insulting my cat. Then it turned red and angry. Well, more angry. Then there was a kernel panic, a few reboots until I unpluged the cable and restarted eveything again.

Each drive showed I/O errors, so Softraid is telling me I need to replace all five drives, which I think is probably not the answer here. The usb-c cable was removed. I certified the disks before using them, like a good soldier.

My Boss (the cat) was not very helpful in trying to fix this.

So, what do I need to do to get all the drives back into blue circle state from the red circle, resync them or otherwise correct and fix possible data corruption?

Also anyone want a cat?

Chris

P.S. I am liking the software so far, other than not really understanding how to recover from things like this.
