I have always felt USB is weaker on MacOS than intel, it is more susceptible to weird issues. (thunderbolt is also but USB more so) Your directory is damaged on your volume. I also see IO errors on the other disks. You can clear the iO counters (errors) to fix that and perhaps validate the volume.

On the volume that does not mount, you ultimately need to erase it and copy the data back, as MacOS has no repair tools for APFS. the data can be recovered with a Data recovery application.

Note: If you will allow it, we can send a copy of your data volume to Apple to learn how to repair your volume, they have asked for examples. We would be willing to do the following;

send us your disks, we pay shipping. We send a copy of the volume to Apple (under confidentiality), recover your data, and send it back to you. (with confidentiality) Are you interested?

I have three RAID volumes formatted through SoftRAID. Today the striped volume stopped mounting. If I try to mount it, the status flickers briefly then goes back to "unmounted." It also doesn't show up in Disk Utility. The mirrored and RAID 1+0 volumes needed to be rebuilt last week. Afterwards I verified all three. But they all say "last validated: never." All three volumes are on eight hard drives spread across two ThunderBay enclosures. I believe the volumes were created in High Sierra, but I'm now using Ventura.

1) How do I get the unmounted RAID to mount?

2) What's the difference between verifying and validating. Assuming validating is a good thing, how do I do that?
