Despite trying multiple reboots yesterday to no effect, when I booted my mac this morning, I got SoftRAID dialogues saying the volume was out of sync and needed to be rebuilt. Rebuilding then commenced automatically, and everything seems fine now – no more warnings and a "blue dot" in the menu bar.

Just FYI, when I was experiencing the issue I did not get any warning from Mac OS about a damaged or read-only volume. The SoftRAID info I get from terminal output is: com.softraid.driver.SoftRAID (5.8.2)

In any case, I think this issue is resolved (although I still don't know what caused it in the first place).]]></content:encoded>
