I replaced all four drives in my Thunderbay RAID 5 with Toshiba Server class 7200rpm 8tb drives. Upon a disk speed test my read and write are both in the high 200's. I recall being in the 400-500 range with my previous drives. The volume is about 40% full. Any ideas what might be happening?

200MBs sounds low for fast drives, even when the volume is 50% full.

Run AJA system test, with 5K video, RGBA codec and 64GB file size.

What are you getting?

Is it possible spotlight is actively indexing? That will dramatically slow performance.

Alright... so with the AJA test and your settings I got 357 write and 505 read. Is this in line with what you'd expect? I confirmed Spotlight was not indexing.

Thanks!

That is a little low, but if the volume is 50% full, reasonable.
