part of the reason is getting better feedback on the disks states, (predictive failure, etc.) and reliable email notification.

All you need to do is set the enclosure to JBOD mode with the Promise configuration software. 

Note: some older Pegasus enclosures apparently do not have the ability to set them in JBOD mode. I am not sure about the Pegasus2. If you can't figure out how to set it in JBOD mode, ask Promise, they shoud be able to help you.]]></content:encoded>

I have a Promise Pegasus2 R6 12TB enclosure. I realize it has hardware RAID built in. I want to know if it's possible to use SoftRAID for managing its disks for the various RAID configurations that SoftRAID provides. If it seems that this is possible, what, if any, issues would I encounter ?
