So stick with reputable brands to be safest. Companies that are likely to adhere to the specs, rather than cut corners. Badly made USB C cables can actually damage your electronics.]]></content:encoded>

                        <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Thanks for your help - I just rebuilt the volume.  I also had the Mercury Pro Quad connected to a hub which was connected to Caldigit TS3 (two hops).  I have since connected the Mercury Quad directly to the CalDigit.  I have also switched from the OWC provided USB-C to USB 3.0 Type A cable to a straight USB-C to USB-C cable. We will see if the stability improves.  </p>
<p>Is there a recommended USB-C cable spec/brand I should stick to? </p>

<p>Your Time Machine volume no longer mounts? even after restart?</p>
<p>You can try "first aid" on it (Disk Utility) to see if that can mount it, else we may need to start over. Since this is Time Machine, there is little need to "recover" the data using any data recovery apps.</p>]]></content:encoded>
