For reassurance, you can "validate" each Mirror pair, to ensure they are in sync, if they have ever rebuilt, then they should probably show 0 sectors updated.

See if it happens again. Best to have ut disks to sleep disabled, but I don't really know if by tahoe, that is a fixed bug or not.

Hello, earlier today, I received an error messages from Softraid. There was an I/O error, then a read-write error, and then disk ejection errors. I rebooted the computer and the disk ejection errors occurred again. I then shut down the computer, unplugged the thunderbolt cables and plugged them back in, and the disks seem to be behaving normally the next 14 hours today so far.

My computer is a 2024 M4 Mac Mini running macOS 26.0.1 that I recently setup on 10/22/25. I have two Thunderbolt2 enclosures: an OWC ThunderBay IV 4Bay, and an Akitio Thunder2 Quad. The enclosures house Softraid mirror volumes that were created years ago, and they were running on a 2014 Mac mini prior to my computer upgrade. I am using the Apple branded Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter, the computer is connected to the Akitio enclosure, and the OWC enclosure is connected to the Akitio enclosure.

I have my Mac set to disable sleep, although I have enabled the setting “put hard disks to sleep when possible”.

I have 4 Softraid mirrored volumes, and all of them were ejected. (Named HD4, HD5, HD6, HD7).

Below are samples of the error message emails I received: I also attached a tech support file.

I/O Error Detected. The SoftRAID volume “HD7” (disk18) on “ ” encountered an error. You may also see in the SoftRAID Log "A program attempted to read or write to a volume which was no longer accepting I/O requests. Occurred 10/27/25 at 3:42AM

Disk with multiple read/write errors. The SoftRAID Monitor detected a disk with multiple read/write errors at “ ” on Oct 27, 2025 at 4:07:57 AM. This alert is for the volume: “HD7”, SoftRAID ID: . Occurred 10/27/25 at 4:08AM

SoftRAID has detected that a disk (disk14, SoftRAID ID: ) was ejected unexpectedly. This is usually a hardware problem with a single disk, or the hardware enclosure may have a problem. This alert is for the volume: “HD7”, SoftRAID ID: Occurred 10/27/25 at 4:11AM, and also at 4:43AM

Just wondering if there are any other steps I should take? Should I disable the setting “put hard disks to sleep when possible” in the Mac settings?

Thanks so much.
