I see in the graphic a suggestion that SoftRaid supports RAID Level 6.
Is this true ( I haven't seen it in an option to set up a new set) or is it a playful poke at the version SoftRaid 6 or did I miss something.
The last mention of this was a comment on a forum post from March 2021.
Not yet, we do intend to add RAID 6 support, but it has to wait until after we have full support for APFS, in 6.1.
So RAID 6 will only be in SR6.X and not SR5.X?
Yes, SoftRAID 5 is no longer maintained. SoftRAID 6 and onwards will have all future feature enhancements.
Is there any update on RAID6 implementation?
Not yet. M1 and APFS support has thrown a lot of issues in front.
@softraid-support Pleeeeeease RAID6... ?
M1 Mac - 1 year old - No interest
> 10.14 MacOS support - 2 years old - No interest
APFS Support - 4 years old - Little to no interest
RAID6 - 17 years old? - DESPERATE
It is on our road map, we have had so many issues in macOS to deal with first.
Throws an M1 chip at Tim Cook
Lots of time passing with what transparently seems to be no progress on raid 6 support 😞
It is in the list of upcoming features, but I cannot comment more than that, sorry.
