SSD cache for RAID5?

Greetings!

I'm looking at the Thunderbay 8 or Flex 8 for my editing suite. Currently using HGST 8TB HDDs but have a spare SATA SSD on hand. Wondering if SoftRAID could use the SSD as a cache if I build a RAID5? If not, what's the best way to take advantage of the SSD?

Thanks so much!

Edit: I'm on Windows 10 btw.

We do not have a "cache" feature where you can use the SSD for that.

The only thing you can perhaps do is use that for in work, compiling/editing videos, etc.

Ah ok, thanks so much for the reply!

Off-top question though, are the Thunderbays's thunderbolt connections back-compatible with USB-C? My current system doesn't have thunderbolt yet so just wondering.

Thanks again!

No, while the connectors are both USBC style, you cannot connect Thunderbay to USB.

You can connect a USB enclosure with a USB C connector to a thunderbolt 3 Mac, but not the other way around.
