I have a RAID 5 array. It was filled with six 6TB drives for a grand total of 30TB. I recently upgraded all the drives (one at a time, rebuilding as I went) to six 8TB drives hoping for a grand total of 40TB.
However, when I go to resize the volume in SoftRAID, I get the error "Error resizing volume." It says the maximum I can expand it to is 30TB. Am I missing a step?
All drives show up with no errors and show 2TB available.
SoftRAID v6.2
OSX 11.6.1
Do you still have 6.1 or 6.0.5 of SoftRAID?
Use that to resize. Do not install the driver, just run the app, resize, then quit and go back to 6.2.
There is a resize bug in 6.2.
I don't have any previous versions. Is there a link to download either 6.1 or 6.0.5?
Scratch that. I had an older version backed up in Time Machine. That did the trick.
If you are working successfully with the release 6.1, when 6.2.1 is released, it should be OK.
is there a rough timeframe for the 6.2.1 release? I can go digging through Time Machine as well, but if release is imminent I can just wait
Thanks!
@softraid-support Can't edit my post, but I do not have an older version of SoftRAID. Running macOS 12.2
6.2.1 is imminent, but does not fix this resize issue.
Here is a link to 6.1

When you run it, do not install the driver. Just resize, and quit. then go back to the latest SoftRAID.
Requires Big Sur, yes. Let me see if I can find you an option.
Do you have another computer, just to resize?
@softraid-support I have an old Mac mini that's maxed out on Catalina I could dig out and use if necessary. Would licensing allow that?
Yes you can do that, there should be no issue. It probably has the old 5.x license. That version will work also.
@softraid-support actually, it's never had SoftRAID on it
but, if I can install 6.whatever and use my existing license, that'll work
@softraid-support all set now. thanks for the help!
And just FYI, I had to use 6.0.5 as 6.1 gave the same error.
