It is currently a raid 1 and almost full I want to add two more 8tb drives to it for a total of four drives and make it a raid 5 will I be able to just add the drives in and do it through soft raid or do I need to start over.

also I am using the thunder bay to store my plex media and want to switch to an intel nuc as my main plex pc to free up my mini for video stuff are there any issues switching from Mac softraid to window 10 soft raid  with out losing data

thanks for the help

YOu can use your RAID 1 in Windows with SoftRAID for Windows. No problem.

We do not have a RAID 1+0 or RAID 5 yet for Windows.

You cannot convert your Mirror to RAID 5, sorry. I wonder if you are not better off with 2 RAID 1 volumes for now, and running SoftRAID for Windows. Later this year, we should have the more advanced RAID available.

I tried hooking up the Thunder Bay drive to my intel nuc home base windows 10 computer but it will not show up in windows on the softraid for windows I downloaded from your site. I have 4 8tb setup raid 1 in two separate raid 1 drives is there some special thing I need to do to make it work in windows or do I have to completely re set it up for windows

If the volume is APFS, we do not have the ability yet to mount that in Windows. HFS will mount fine. What kind of volumes are they?

If you installed SoftRAID for Windows, it should mount.

Do the raw disks show up in Windows?
