Actually Finder lists them as external so if you ask it to show external volumes on desktop it'll also show internal.

I do have two Samsung 850 PRO ssds inside a 2012 Macbook pro.

Also Softraid volumes don't show up in System Info/Archive.

OSX 10.11.1.
