Only if you have a specific need, like creating a RAID 0 for Library files and RAID 1 for data.

Keep it simple and one volume should be best.

I'll be creating a RAID 5 - computer is MacBook Air (M1 - 2020) At this point I intend to use the "External Drive Enclosure" simply as a large EHD -  External Hard Drive. What are the Pros / Cons of creating any particular number of Volumes?
