Hi,

I'm having a bit of confusion over mirroring my drive.. I have my master drive (drive 1) that I'd like mirrored onto my other drive (drive 2). I'm running 6.2 on Monterey.

When I go to mirror, it says I need to select 2 or more drives to mirror. If I select both drives, then drive 1 only has 134mb of available storage to mirror. Just a little confused over how to properly mirror.. Any clarification would be most appreciated, I do not want to lose data :)

Seems to me you have a volume that you converted to SoftRAID, and want to mirror it to another, freshly initialized disk?

Try "Convert to Mirror" instead. See if that works for you. If not, attach a SoftRAID Technical Support file.

Correct.

Attached it here. I tried what you had suggested, but don't believe anything has copied over.

It sure appears that you can "Convert" and select SoftRAID mirror and select the spare 8TB disk. What happens when you do that

disk 1 was.. waiting for disk - unmounting volumes -> changing raid level -> No errors

disk 2... changed raid level -> no errors

that's the extent of what happens

@jmax313

Do you get these two dialog boxes when you try to convert?

Yes. Convert the volume first, then I selected the 8TB drive to mirror to.

@jmax313

And after selecting the drive, that is when nothing happens? (I need to clarify, as this is not expected behavior)

AFAIK- I'm not sure anything was mirrored. Per my previous post, this is what I get and nothing more to my knowledge.

"disk 1 was.. waiting for disk - unmounting volumes -> changing raid level -> No errors

disk 2... changed raid level -> no errors"

I feel like I'm missing a step.. Do I need to do something with creating a new volume?

@jmax313

Thats what I am trying to figure out, whether you are missing a step, or something is going wrong.

The two screen captures.... Do you get both of those, looking exactly as pictured?

And you can click Add?

Is it after this point that nothing happens? I can't go further emulating your system, not easily at least.

Hi!

I have double checked and it's exactly the same.

Also the 8TB as disk 1 I want to mirror only shows 132 mb available, whereas the 8TB disk 2 shows full 8tb available.

@jmax313

The capacity is normal, it tells you how partitioned the volume is.

I just ran a test to be sure. Yes this works with 6.2.

The steps are:

Click on your working volume. Select "convert to Mirror". Select the 8TB drive, click Add.

YOu may need to relaunch SoftRAID to see the Mirror progress, but it should create the mirror.

Can you send another support file, after trying this once more. restart before you attempt this, so there is a clean environment.
